This site integrates the National Educational Technology Standards for Students developed by ISTE with technology skills that need to be achieved by students through an on-going process of development, upgrade, and design. As much as possible, these skills should be taught as an integral part of current subject area content and correlated with Ohio Proficiency Outcomes.
Some of our skills came from The Ohio SchoolNet Learner Technology Profiles document (used with permission). We provide notes describing our reasons for changing the wording of some of these skills. We also changed some of Ohio SchoolNet's skill associations with the national standards.
The attainment of these standards, realistically, is a goal to be achieved over time. While many teachers are integrating technology into their curriculum, it will take additional staff development, curriculum planning and hardware infrastructure before all students will be able to meet these standards.
Our standards document was created as integrated Filemaker Pro Databases to allow multiple associations between standards, performance indicators, skills, activities and proficiency outcomes. This allows for exploration of the documents in ways that provide understanding of the interelationships of technology standards, proficiency outcomes, and an integrated curriculum.
